Cultural Sustainability

...RECOGNIZING OUR COMMON HUMANITY THROUGH STORY
Cultural Sustainability seeks to support individuals and communities in identifying, protecting, and enhancing their important traditions, their ways of life, their cherished spaces, and their vital relationships to each other and the world.  In other words, Cultural Sustainability seeks to support cultural values and priorities that are often being overwhelmed by more compelling currencies.  The discipline emphasizes work with communities through, for example, capacity-building and communicating understanding between cultural groups.  In doing this work, we open ourselves to learning from our community partners.  It’s work that requires humility, respectful engagement and – above all – the ability to listen.
